BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - One local politician says it will cut down on voter fraud, but the Massachusetts Attorney General says it's unconstitutional. Now the debate about whether voters should show ID before casting their ballots is heading to court. AG Martha Coakley believes she is protecting the Freedoms of Elections Act by saying voters should not have to pay the $25 for an ID in order to vote. Mansfield Selectman Olivier Kozlowski disagrees. He thinks identification will help cut down on voter fraud, so much so that he is filing suit with the state's Supreme Judicial Court. Attorney Kozlowski wants a question on the fall 2012 ballot and is organizing a group to collect the approximately 70,000 signatures needed between now and November, the Boston Herald reported.
Martha, what the hell dude? The Freedom of Elections Act clearly specifies that voters must be registered US citizens, no? How else are you supposed to determine if each voter is a registered citizen? The honor system? You can't be that naive, right? I mean you're the AG, you're aware that people commonly lie, right? Seems pretty critical to your job actually.
I mean, isn't it a fine for an adult to be walking around with out identification anyway?
Because we wouldn’t want people doing things like proving they’re registered United States citizens before taking part in our government, right? We’ll just leave it up to the little old grandma checking off names on those gigantic reams of computer paper with her pencil to make a judgement call on everyones legality. Nevermind the fact that they can’t even handle my dad and I being a Sr./Jr. Combo. When we used to vote in the same ward I would love the annual question of, “Oh, which one are you?” Lady, one of us was born in the 50’s and one of us in the 80’s, take a wild fucking guess. But yea, I’m sure Doris, Dot, and Shirley can sniff out all the illegals and double voters.
Better yet, keep it so we don't have to show our ID's, I'll just vote 20-30 times on election day against Martha. That should solve the problem.
